Three and half years ago I set out to convert a special half shell motorcycle helmet into an official Santa Claus hat.
After I put in a new liner, I realized I wanted to cover the ear flaps with the white fur AND change the black helmet strap into a white strap to blend with my beard. Then I changed out the double D ring to a nice click and snap bracket to hold the helmet securely.
The final touch was adding a helmet cam with a boom microphone to the outside of the helmet.
If you do not look carefully, you would never see that this custom Santa hat if actually an approved helmet and the same style our motorcycle officers use.
